By late spring, the crop of oilseed rape is in full flower and trees and shrubs have a full complement of leaves. The crop has been harvested by mid-summer. Flowers are visible in the hedgerows, the sun is high in the sky and shadows on the ground are short. In late summer, grasses begin to die back and turn yellow, while fruits form on the shrubs.
